CALLING OUT MENTIFEX

Name: Artifex 2018-04-29 11:42

I am crazier than you. Don't you think there are many things and much space still to advance upon before tackling and diving into this whole world of insanity that is AI? We still haven't fully utilized or adopted, or developed and improved upon through practice, the many advances on computer science that come out through research every now and then.

Our programming culture is struggling. The namespace is getting too confusing for the beginners, and it seems only the wrong kind of things manage to get any appeal and adoption.

My approach has been to face software development as an art, as an inexact science, which you can only improve upon through personal practice, and which, like art, has no definitive goal or ruleset for what is preferable, but which anyone can get good at using any tools and practicing on any medium if there is enough genius (impetus) and dedication - even "bad" or limiting tools. Creativity rules in jobs where there is creation, and precepts and preconceptions are constantly being broken.

"No silver bullet."

That is something that I think AI will never understand, the subtlety of art.

Maybe what we should inspire ourselves on is the artisan guilds of the past, which regulated membership and held "trade secrets", using their knowledge and expertise as a bargaining chip, when they didn't have much else. The internet makes the impulse to share everything you have strong, but maybe putting all the chips you hold on the table without a mind for occasion is not always a wise move. Same goes for cards.

No. The time was ripe decades ago.

Very true. The artificial intelligence namespace has split into AI and AGI. See

Like Napoleon Bonaparte who said "I made my own luck", n'est pas?

It's good that you talk about the "occasion" for sharing, because yesterday on sat28apr2018 mentifex here felt such an "occasion" for
