in principle, I agree that RISC is the future and I do like ARM - one of the nicest assemblers I used. but x86 isn't going to die any time soon (if I had to guess I'd say it will be a dominant architecture for PCs and workstation for at least the next decade) - the very same backwards compatibility that makes it into a huge bloated mess is what keeps it alive
