Why do people look down on web developers?

I'm a web developer and I'm annoyed at how people who primarily do desktop development think they're better than me. I know shit like C++ and Java too, you know.

There is literally nothing wrong with being a web developer.

They're the ones creating sites filled with popups, ads, tracking bullshit, "social media" rubbish, and all kinds of other offensive horrors.

They're also the ones trying to take control of browsers away from the users.
