decentralized textboards

Do you know of any? I want something like chatangle with longer posts.
Also what happened to the textboard project that was discussed at progrider.org? It was clear from the beginning that the author would never write a single line of code but maybe some ideas were good.

I only know nntpchan, but that's for imageboards.

Let one hundred poasters blossom;

Let one hundred voices rise up in prog-thought.

Yes, DistBB. Thanks I'll try to find the thread in the archive.

what's with freetards and decentralization? decentralization opens you up to subversion from people who dislike you

centralized power and a benevolent leader is all you need

Name: Anonymous 2018-08-30 22:40

freetards are inherently anti-authoritarian

authority is good as long as the people in power are on my side
anti-authoritarianism is anti-me when those in power are with me

Face it, your "benevolent leader" is projection of your beliefs. When such a leader bans things you like you'll probably don't want THAT centralized power.
Imagine if all coffee, alcohol, tobacco products banned, then all videogames, cartoons and uncensored films, then all gambling, porn and pre-marital sex.

Basically imagine a fundamentalist christian that thinks TV is satanic and only Christian literature is worthy of reading, now with wide political powers. Sort of like ISIS, but Christian and racist. That is the most likely scenario.

There are seven people poasting here. This is the result of multiple schisms and userbase partitions. By building more textboards, we fracture it even more. Ultimately, we all poast in single-user temples of autism.

It is a dead technology. Compare https://schmonz.com/2014/03/01/haskell-the-dog/

It's called NNTP.

Decentralisation = multiple authorities, if you disagree with how the other authorities handle things, you can make your own.

mastodon social is decentralized (a bunch of separate servers connecting together) but it's overrun by SJWs who will deplatform your specific server if you aren't SJW as well

Name: Anonymous 2018-08-31 17:44

>>16
Only specific instances bow to SJWs. Japan for example doesn't care.

but besides, letting something get fragmented because of decentralization and disagreements, rather than letting a central authority ban people who try to subvert the community, is stupid

yikes, I don't think you want to use that japanese example as people being anti-SJW, that's just being messed up, not even gonna bother reading the entire thread

it's not SJW to oppose immoral things and you have to be retarded to think otherwise

this is not up for debate

Opposing SJWs at any field gets respect from me.

You're in the wrong neighborhood, snowflake.

Not true, most instances are not SJW ones to my knowledge. Also, GNUSocial is the standard nowadays.

Though the truth is that the protocol used by mastodon is broken and unsafe. There is no way to make sure that the owner of the node did not modify the content of a message for example. Public key authentication has been a thing for decades, so I am unsure why would they ignore it.

Don't change these.
