infinite scrolling on feeds/timelines

It makes it pretty much impossible to view old content. Is this intentional, or just a side effect of bad web design?

I prefer pages, but that's seen as old-fashioned. But it also means you don't have to scroll for 45 minutes before finding what you're looking for.

I like the irony of OP. It's like they never read all the debates and discussion of rfc2068.
