infinite scrolling on feeds/timelines

It makes it pretty much impossible to view old content. Is this intentional, or just a side effect of bad web design?

I prefer pages, but that's seen as old-fashioned. But it also means you don't have to scroll for 45 minutes before finding what you're looking for.

It's deliberate. Why do you think that YouTube, managed by the same people who own the greatest web search engine in the world would have such a horrible searching system? It's because they don't want you to watch what you're looking for, they want you to watch what's "relevant".

I like the irony of OP. It's like they never read all the debates and discussion of rfc2068.

Irony? Just because I'm not some boomer who has been around for 50+ years doesn't mean I'm being ironic. I can't be bothered to read every single RFC, especially when many of them are before my time or concern tech I don't use, or some are just memes, like the bird carrying a flash drive one.

I did read part of the PNG one and they want it to be pronounced ``ping'' instead of P.N.G. When was the last time someone said they had a ping image file? Never. Ping means the ICMP shit.

They're trying to force you into the experience of scrolling like a cuck. You aren't supposed to be looking for a specific thing, because if you find what you want quickly then you'll leave. That's not profitable.

Also it's quite a bit less taxing on databases and caching frontends to read it that way instead of random access.

I use 'infinite' scrolling on a little search tool I made. The intention was to display results as efficiently as possible and eliminate needing to navigate or fiddle with next links and such. https://peanuts-search.com

Don't change these.
