tfw USB been frying my mouse for months

Accidentaly used the blue USB port and in the last few months, the mouse exhibited intermittent failures. Then i noticed the wires overheat.
The USB3.0(i assume its not USB2.0 hispeed) port sent enough power to nearly melt the cable, wtf.
How does this even happen?

UPDATE: It was the mouse fault(cheap Microsoft mice). It was shorting USB cables in some position when it twists. The port is innocent.
