Chinks Leaked Nintendo's Intellectual Property

Moral: never trust a Chink. Chinese language has no word for honor. Just like the Russian language, where word "честь" means obligation, not the honor.

Nintendo's fault. Should've made GaaS.

2. recompile the kernel
A ridiculous fabrication for a small game modification.

3. fix kernel panic
Same.

4. fix segmentation fault
Learn to program small game modifications without causing segmentation faults.

5. install latest proprietary graphics drivers
Contradiction with "the future the Free Software Foundation chose for us".

6. find that they are too old to run the game or support your hardware
Same.

Not a required step in getting the source in "the future the Free Software Foundation chose for us".

A ridiculous fabrication for a small game modification.
Most modern games require Internet access to be purchased from Steam. And I had to recompile the Linux kernel just to make the Huawei ADSL router work. The kernel crashed with kernel panic, requiring me to fix it. In addition, that router required some opaque firmware blob with unclear lincense and source, which could have as well included viruses (the guy who dumped it could have modded it).

Learn to program small game modifications without causing segmentation faults.

Knowing the opensource spaghetti practices, I can safely assume that modifying one part can easily crash some other unrelated part. In particular, the price of the open source Mario in crystals could be also used for some buffer size. You set it to 0, and get a segfault in addition to a hacker backdoor.

Did you already lose the context? Where does the FSF support this? Under Affero you simply run your own servers. And rms is against *-as-a-service.

Are you going to pretend software bugs have anything to do with "the future the Free Software Foundation chose for us"? Have you ever heard of a blue screen?

Regardless of what you assume in your AU, the rest of us would just comment out the crystal count decrementing line.

The GPL allows web services which is the only way to sell software nowadays.

The GPL allows web services
The GPL allows web services but is not the endorsed license for web services. That is the Affero GPL aka AGPL whose main purpose is precisely to close the SaaS loophole. Therefore, if you assume a web service but one that is not under AGPL so you do not have the source, you are in contradiction with "the future the Free Software Foundation chose for us".

This wouldn't be a problem if Mario 64 were a GaaS.

The AGPL also allows web services.

I use AGPL code on most of my services and I never had a problem.

Don't change these.
