Appeal for justice from the deportation/detention centre in Nyirbator, Hungary!
Since 5th of August 2020 over 50 foreign detainees from 17 countries(see below) are making a hunger strike against the NATIONAL DIRECTORATE-GENERAL FOR ALIENS POLICING (Országos Idegenrendészeti Főigazgatóság) which in violation of basic human rights especially Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights (provides a right to respect for one's "private and family life") and in some cases even Hungarian legal system keeps the foreigners detained for several months up to one year before being expelled to their homeland or the last country of residence. ALIENS POLICE's violations among other issues include separation of family members (mainly men with foreign origin and citizenship) from their wives and children by coining them the status of "danger to the Hungarian society" without giving any official explanation under the cover of national security term. In some cases detainees win the courts of 1st or 2nd instance which decides to set the detainee free and stop the deportation, but the ALIENS POLICE restarts the charge cases from zero against the foreigners and prolongs the detention by ignoring the court decisions .
Besides, because of mismanagement and slow work of the ALIENS POLICE a huge number of foreigners have been concentrated in the Nyirbator detention centre where only one landline telephone for over 50 detainees is out of order for days now and the number of sitting places in the dining room (envisaged for a maximum of 36 persons) is far less than the number of detainees who sometimes eat their food standing.
The appeal of the detainees is the following:
"We plead legal justice for us here in the detention centre of Nyirbator and adjustment of the terms and conditions of this detention centre with those of other EU countries, particularly the legality, the cause and the period of detention. For this purpose we ask for meetings with representatives of the human rights protection NGOs, media and other relevant bodies!"
"Please help us!"
