To be honest, I have been through that phase too.

What is your favourite pocket device, /prog/? Mine is Sansa Clip+, I really miss it and the Rockbox programmability. Shortly after it was discontinued, I managed to buy two more pieces, but the second one died recently.

I just want a smartphone which uses a normal OS with normal command-line and non-rarted windowing system. fucking Pyra is still unreleased and I guess they haven't updated their specs, so when it comes out it will be 5 years behind the times

The only time I ever programmed anything for a pocket device was with a BASIC programmable Citizen calculator, which I used to draw curves. It did that rather slow, plotting just a few dots per frame.

But the key point, it was much easier to program that Citizen than to program modern smartphones, which require a PC with a devkit. No way you will ever write any code sitting on a park bench. The only thing smartphones are designed to do is running free-to-play games and paying for "crystals."
