Making a textboard

Did you ever make one? Which frameworks did (or would) you use? Did you program any unique features? Do you host it?

Is it insane to make one in C? I'm not that experienced yet and C is not the easiest language for string handling but I would love to write a C backend for a textboard. Did you use CGI? Or some framework like kore? Very curious, pls respond
