If you could rewrite anything from scratch, what would it be?

I feel like we often hear about what people are actually working on, so I thought this question might lead to an interesting discussion and is meant to encourage some people to speak that usually aren’t able to share something. 💕

Hard mode: no complaining about web browsers.
Nightmare mode: no complaining about the web at all.

I would rewrite the web. Such an incompetent mess. Ugh. I say this as somebody who's followed the problematic development in the web space since the beginning.

If I were in charge the web would be:
- Robust
- Empowering
- Privacy respecting

The current state of corporate power over the web is unacceptable and I wouldn't allow any corporate interests to influence the project.
