Are there any visual novels that aren't complete shit? It's just powerpoint porn with a few meaningless choices thrown in to give the illusion of control to the readet masturbator. The only reason I can see for anyone to like this stuff is for incredibly obscure fetishes, as shown by the fact that the writing is on par with the bad `romance' novels for women that get sold in supermarkets to distract them from their meaningless lives and unfulfilling marriages.
Now, I'm sure that it's not always shit, but any even moderately successful VN is going to get an anime which will be twice as polished and benefit significanty from a writing editor. In this case, the VN is nothing but a very rough draft that should have never seen the light of day.
Finally, how do the japs manage to be such shitty programmers? Why does displaying text on a mostly static background use up 30% of my CPU? Even a woman could write a better interpreter in JS that ran with half the resources.

>>1 I'm waiting eagerly for a Wanko to Kurasou anime. Sure, it's powerpoint porn, but I masturbate to all formats of hentai.
Try reading YU-NO or Muvluv. Make sure you read Muvluv Alternative. Clannad is shit, and so is the anime. Read all the Type/Moon crap.
I've always believed it has to do with their disparity between the language they write and the one they [/i]type[/i]. Things are bound to get hairy when Shift-JIS, EUC-JP and UTF-8 are coexisting in a land where nobody is willing to run anything newer than Windows ME.
I like how this fuckin anime nerd uses ``woman'' as an insult. Why don't you step out of your basement for once and put the gun to your head and pull the trigger you stupid inferior? No, I'm sure you're the one with real meaningless life.
Crap is right. I tried Tsukihime once, it was so slow paced and boring I couldn't finish it.

>>3 How is it an insult? He's clearly stating he's a man who doesn't enjoy entertainment for women. A woman may might make an analogous claim and there is no insult in that.
10x worse than Tsukihime, Shirou is a monkey faggot and Saber is annoying. Tsukihime at least had some nice heroines.

I've only ever read Higurashi and Umineko. Higurashi was better, but Umineko is better for discussion. Both made me cry and were very thought provoking. Higurashi's anime wasn't too terrible, but Umineko's anime was total garbage.
I have Fate Stay Night somewhere, but I haven't gotten around to reading it. I couldn't stay focused on Clannad, so I gave it up after, like, an hour. I'll read those one day.
Japanese have always been terrible programmers. Disgaea 3 would lag trying to make 20 2d sprites jump at the same time in a relatively simple, low polygon room. Ruby still has a global interpreter lock after all these years. Even Super Mario World can be made to execute data based only on how the sprites are moved around, and Pokemon games have just about every single exploit that can be imagined. Windows programs and web pages are somewhat forgivable when you consider that the documentation is probably in English, but even first party games on their own consoles are shit too. The only somewhat good programmer is apparently ZUN.

>>7 After seeing the anime I have no interest in that, though the character design for Rin is faptastic.
Played voiced Clannad Kotomi route twice, never bothered with the others.
Also did a few PSP ones like Railgun, Oreimo and Haganai.
Nasu's earlier works are a bit shitty because he had to whore out his girls to attract the attention of otaku. Kara no Kyoukai offers a better Nasu experience, and Fate/Zero features the participation of Urobuchi to create a true masterpiece of SERIOUS SHIT AND COSMIC DESPAIR
