Eventually it was found out they represent number of past sexual partners(include short encounters and one night stands). What do you expect to see on the street? Above your head? What would change in society, culture, religion?

So a robot passing several hard Turing tests would technically qualify: legally however its a grey area. If the idea of numbers is technological(ala Matrix ) robots qualify, if the numbers are magical(Karma ) only soul-containing entities qualify.

It would BTFO feminism immediately. It will also BTFO beta males who are white knights when they see their innocent crush with a >200 number above her head. People will finally draw attention to the problem of modern day polygamy as all the 6'5" 9/10 Chads have 1,000+ numbers, women regardless of looks all have at least 50, while 90% of males all have under 10 (prostitutes most likely). It would either destroy society or save it, depending on how it's handled.
