Best GUI toolkit?

Name: Anonymous 2016-04-07 20:50

inb4 "embed a web server so you can use webpages!"

Constraints:
- free as in beer
- must be beautiful by default, no Tk shit
- is or can be made to interop with SBCL
- static linking
- at least works on Windows

ncurses

Where the fuck do I get this free beer from?

Name: Anonymous 2016-04-07 22:42

cl-webkit, fucker.

Name: Anonymous 2016-04-07 23:18

Static linking is bad.

Pros:
- Stable API
- Decades old
- Well tested
- Still supported
- ALWAYS WILL BE SUPPORTED
- So ubiquitous, that other platforms are forced to make emulation layers for it (wine, whatever the fuck macs do)
- NO ESCAPE

Cons:
NONE

Have you considered the possibility that something is very wrong with your 𝓐 𝓔 𝓢 𝓣 𝓗 𝓔 𝓣 𝓘 𝓒 𝓢? That maybe you should learn to perceive beauty as F O R M following F U N C T I O N instead of rounded corners?

Yes but keep the Lua version, because I like having them side by side

Nah, we all know that not being able to see what is clickable and what is not is stylish, flat design!

What's the best automated testing and mockup framework for Scheme app development? I have ENTERPRISE ambitions, but the community doesn't seem to have done their job providing me with free shit very well in this case.

Generalizing testing and mockup is beyond NP-complete. Just do what you need, as all the other options out there marry you to a useless piece of shit, or an over-engineered piece of shit.

- free as in beer
Beer is not free.

- must be beautiful by default, no Tk shit
Beautiful is subjective

- is or can be made to interop with SBCL
Everything can do that

- static linking
Everything can do that

- at least works on Windows
Lol, why?

Name: Anonymous 2016-04-10 13:43

Everything can do that
SDL and gtk+ can't.

You're just not trying hard enough.

What the fuck are you smoking? I know the general response is to ask to pass it around, but you need to flush that shit down the toilet.

All of the Lisp game jam games I've seen have been using SDL. Both SDL and GTK+ bindings are available via quick google, if not on Quicklisp.

Win32 is deprecated by Microsoft basically. You have to use MetroUI libraries.

Name: Anonymous 2016-04-11 3:20

I don't have to do anything. I have free will.

Name: Anonymous 2016-04-11 13:34

Prove that by stepping out of the window and not falling to the ground. Gravity is no match for your free will.

Oh shit, I forgot, can't commit suicide by jumping out of your mom's basement window :(.

Name: Anonymous 2016-04-11 15:10

I didn't say anything about bindings or lisp.

Clojure is not a LISP.

I guess "interop" and "SBCL" don't count as "bindings" and "Lisp". Gotcha.
