Have you ever considered brain maxxing?

Name: Brazil-kun 2018-05-18 13:04

Well, have you? My meaning is thus: improving brain function actively, as a planned process, instead of simply coping with "what you've got" through the so-called genetic lottery.

What is the equivalent of " leg day" for the brain?

Name: Anonymous 2018-05-18 13:21

Yes I have. In fact I wanted to do some research this weekend and bump the old thread.

Anyway, show us what you've got?

I had meant to post this image, but didn't have it with me at the time.
There's a triple foundation: proper nutrition, neuroplasticity exercises, and stress reduction.
With only proper nutrition and stress reduction you can still get very far because the usual activities of your day to day life are things you're still not usually completely adapted to.

- balance between resting and activity
- sunlight and exercise
- eating habits
- sleeping place and enough sleep
- rythm

Pretty much the same stuff you posted.

Nice. What about practicing silence as a neuroplasticity exercise, and searching for new experiences guided by the five senses? (The basis of the structure of experience, before any thoughtforms/judgements.) And wha about being more specific on the proper nutrition part, recomending even th supplementation of certain micronutrients, and the avoidance of carbohydrates?

I'm going to read the article you've cited now.

The video on neuroplasticity seems good. Supplements and the diets you posted are retarded.

I did link studies for each of them, though. Carbohydrate restricted but not calorie restricted diet is an effective treatment against diabetes. Raw eggs have more choline than cooked eggs, and choline is a precursor of acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter associated with memory. Et cetera.

You're entitled to your opinion, though. But tell me, what is so 'retarded' about supplements and dieting? Or do you think the brain gets its energy and nourishment from thin air, and we don't get to choose what to give to it?

Name: Anonymous 2018-05-20 14:53

I think it's not worth the effort of money and time and missing out on good food.
The vince gironda diet is not backed by studies, but is an interpretation of science by some fitness witch doctor.
Also many studies are worthless or actively harmful.

Sometimes things only become popular due to these interpretations, which are a way of getting around the usual "learning curve" needed for a layman to read and interpret the results of published peer-reviewed papers on his own and apply them to his daily life.

But of course there are other ways to get around it.

if you look at a single peer reviewed study and think it's okay to apply its results to your life, you are the definition of a layman.

it takes many years of reproduced results and meta-analysis before studies become something that maybe leads to a medical recommendation.

people who do studies are not gods. most of them just want to get their PhDs and go. studies considered harmful.

Say, is it okay if a professional archer, an olympic archer, eats carrots for improved sight? Or is that also considered harmful?

Name: Anonymous 2018-05-30 11:28

>Carrots
Sugar carb sticks.

Name: Anonymous 2018-05-30 11:49

Have carrots provided ``many years of reproduced results''?

What about supplementing Vitamin A, then?
>>19
Retinol (Vitamin A) is known to influence eye health.
